Felix Beyreuther
Felix Beyreuther’s experimentation with a range of photographic techniques and new technology unearths a dreamlikeworld of unreal panoramas in his photographs, animations
and mixed media artworks. His inspiration isdrawn from intimate views of nature and urban landscapes that have become the foundations of his work. Peaceful moments and dynamic qualities inhabit his images while simultaneously reflecting the artist’s subconscious desire for anenvironment where one can immerse in the beauties of nature through an abstract experience of its shapes and colors.
Since 2003, Beyreuther has been exploring theborder between still photography and video. In his video animations, Beyreuther manipulates different levels of perceptions through collages of landscapes, buildings, sceneries and landmarks that are rendered in such a way as to reveala subtle hint of humor or a trompe l’oeil. Beyreuther’s video animations or “moving images” are displayed on “Frames” that are assembled using high definition players (HD 1080p) and LCD screens encased in deep wooden or steel frames. The depth of the “Frame” increases the three dimensional mirage by creating reflections within the box from the backlit images. What results is a primitive looking device that integrates the physical necessity of the frame with the highly technical video animation into one solid entity.
Felix Beyreuther is a multi-media artist who began exploring the medium of photography in 1990. He studied design and architecture at the University of Applied Science in Munich.
Beyreuther has been involved in the planning of landmark projects such as the Beijing Olympic Stadium, the “Birds Nest” and the “Allianz- Arena” in association with the firms of Herzog & deMeuron and Ove Arup. Helives and works in Munich, Germany and Shanghai, China. |
