Hanting Zhu
Hanting Zhu is the New York gallery manager and part-time curator of Tally Beck Contemporary, the Bangkok-based art consultancy exhibiting island6 solo shows in Bangkok and Manhattan in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
Hanting Zhu grew up in Beijing before moving to the United States to attend Rutgers University and New York University, concentrating in Art History and Economics. In 2008, Hanting interned at LifeStyle magazine in Beijing where he wrote, translated and edited feature articles.
Aside from being the manager of Tally Beck Contemporaryin New York, Hanting Zhu acted as co-curator for "Plugged In", island6’s first ever exhibition in North America from January to March 2011. The popular exhibition uses electronic media to characterize the city of Shanghai, creating a surreal tour of animated vignettes that conflates time, mythical romance and urban reality.
Tally Beck Contemporaryis a Bangkok-based Asian art consultancy with a gallery on New York's Lower East Side. Specializing in contemporary Asian art, the company works with artists worldwide with a focus on the emerging art throughout Asia.
