Katharina Droste
Katharina Droste (b. Austria 1983) holds a Master Degree in Modern History from the University of Vienna, Austria. This makes her the last word in all history-related topics, especially essential as many members of the collective frequently don’t even know what day it is, let alone what happened in the past. Apart from being a hot historian, Katharina also occupied herself with learning PR/ Marketing ropes at Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna.
Katharina came to island6 in the muggy summer of 2011 and currently holds the portfolio of Talent Manager. She was involved in the organization and curatorial research of our recent shows, "20 Years - Two Generations of Artists", held in conjunction with Red Gate Gallery in Beijing, as well as "Far Beyond the Firewall". She helped in the co-ordination of our booth at SHContemporary Art Fair 2011. Afterwards, she was promoted to the position of curator, and co-curated several exhibitions including "Goddamned Shanghai" and "island of Oddities". This year, Katharina made a wonderful decision to revive her PhD studies and pursue a language course at Jiao Tong University, while preparing for her new role as Hot Mama. She is badly missed, but we applaud her moxie and wish her all the best.
