French Roulette is an interactive art installation providing an insult in the French language developed by Matt Carols, an American artist famed for his hatred of French people and culture.
Matt Carols created the communication device for his first ever exhibit in China, taking place at island6 Arts Center, with the collective Liu Dao. Having exhibited in the United States and Europe for thirty years, Carols aims to use "French Roulette" to share his political, culturaland national views on France with Chinese artists and art collectors for the first time.
Engraved in aluminum on a piece of Teak wood 45cm x 150 cm x 5cm, the China-based cell phone number, (+86) 13012869169, texts French insults to anyone who calls or texts the number, such as “Nom de Dieu de putain de bordel de merde de saloperies de connards d'enculé de ta mère” (“Name of God of whore of brothel of shit of fucking assholes to fuck your mother.”)
(Please note: Many insults are explicit) [Pete Bradt]
