Ryan Nimmo was born in Indianapolis in the summer of 1985. He spent most of his youth splitting his time between the outer suburbs of Philadelphia with his mother and the wooded back country of southern Michigan with his father. He studied Political Science and History at the University of West Virginia all the while pursuing his interest in painting and drawing in his free time. After graduating in 2008 he spent several years pursuing a career in art before moving to China to do the same in the summer of 2011.
Ryan joined the island6 team in July of 2014 as a Creative Consultant. Little did the team know, Ryan was harboring some serious painting and writing skills. His prolific contributions ushered in a new role as Curator. Since moving up the ranks, Ryan has written texts for diverse shows like “Blood-Money & Bitches,” “On Doing Laundry,” “Babble Jabber,” “Broken Bones & Bruises,” and “Between Red Queens ” His signature quirky and provocative style is a continual source of inspiration for the collective.
