What happens when light fades out and disappears? Must we let fear take over? Do we really suddenly enter a chtothic place of darkness where the dead and demons reign waiting and longing for our arrival, only to be brought right back to a celestial location once illumination takes over? A dwelling where concealed aureole magnificently encompass anything uncontaminated. Or perhaps we are not affected at all, and the world of Tartarus stays subterraneal. Perhaps you would like to give it a try, but are afraid of the consequences. Sit down, make yourself comfortable and drown away your reality by stepping into that of Edgar Allan Poe, Horace Walpole, Anne Rice, or Bram Stoker. If you find yourself engrossed in their stories, only to be pulled back out of concentration by a light once strong that is now dimming, quickly turn it on once more. For who knows what despair lies within these gray confines. A sudden breeze past your neck. An icy tingling down your spine. Be heedful, you’re closer than you think. [Alexia Kalteis] |
