Peaceful surroundings and a demure setting, bring to
mind the rife of family and the scintillating time Shanghai underwent during
the 1930's. The Green Gang was notorious for their crime and debauchery but they were also responsible for assisting workers gain higher wages and respectable positions in the city. So much so it would not be unusual to find members with their family enjoying a picnic in the local park. Similarly – except maybe for the gangster part –, a certain 21st century “Gang on the Green” inspired the island6 artists to create this romantic yet edgy take on the classic family portrait.
