Zhang Deli - 张德丽 (China, Henan province, Zhengzhou, born in1979)
Deli is one of the new media Chinese artists, her work has been exhibited in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Brussels. She together with Zou Susu (邹舒舒), Rose Tang (罗丝唐), Dong Ma (东马) and Ding Dong (丁冬) were having a group exhibition within the 2007 Shanghai eArts festival. Coming from a background of fine arts studies, she has profoundly explored the field of old photography and undergone research of different alternative photography tools.
One of her first serious projects "Where the beauty stays" (美-丽) (2006) was done with a pinhole camera with which she captured old women in their underwear, this project was followed by 10 artworks where the pinhole was a window of a 8 sqm room.
Deli has gathered a collection of old negatives, which she has located in different places all around China, and now using different electronic tools she brings them back to life by applying 3D techniques, animating still photography and putting modern elements such as white light holograms into history.
