Here at island6, many skills are passed on from generation to generation of volunteers – but one skill that seems to prevail is that of the art of makeover. All of our lovely interns participate willingly in changing the appearance of various actors, and sometimes even their own, for the sake of art. Indeed, island6′s impressive costume wardrobe, that holds over 100 unique clothing options for the “excentrique” kind, is greatly useful for those crazy filming sessions we hold at the gallery. Makeovers have occurred on every individual that has ever worked here, from the child-like play with the numerous blue wigs to the more serious intensive make-up sessions turning the pretty girl into a cowgirl, or a 1930′s opium-diva.
But these past few days, it isn’t the volunteers but rather the gallery that has been receiving a makeover – a heavy duty one as a matter of fact! You could even call it a facelift in some way. Say good-bye to the pristine white walls of island6… We’re flipping to the dark side – literally! Since Wednesday, the gallery has slowly been painted an elegant shade of matte dark grey. Progressively, island6 is shifting, putting in better light the Liu Dao Art Collective’s unique LED artworks. It’s a slow and stressful procedure, but the gallery is looking great and everyone looks forward to working in such a fancy space!
Be sure to come by the gallery as soon as possible and check out how amazing it looks! Don’t forget we’re always open! In case you can’t wait, check out some pictures here or on Facebook – simply befriend Liu Dao!
