Visitors to our gallery have been commenting about our intriguing “cage art” collection. That’s right – following the tragic seizure/ “further checking required” status of our oddities collection, the island6 crew has been hard at work picking up the pieces of our semi-cancelled show. After a few days of wallowing in self-pity and drunken misery, we’re making new art again.
And what better to express our repressed feelings than beautiful women in cages?
Model and actress Angela Yao Yuen-ling, a lovely German-born Chinese, pulled out all stops one blustery night to be our caged beauty. Fear, fury, tedium, fiery sensuality – she projected her heart through the flimsy wooden bars and the rusty iron shackles of her island6-sponsored confinement.
Angela was such a trooper, she didn’t even bat an eyelid when we sheepishly trotted out our Houdini cage, where the bones of a misbehaving ex-employee have rested in twisted agony for the past year or so.
But to be fair to us, we didn’t completely take advantage of Angela’s sweet disposition and game attitude. We did give her a bottle of Perrier, afterall.
The result of Angela’s lovely performance and modelling is already up on show for the more sinister sequel to ”island of Oddities: The Yüan Meng Ch’ien Collection”. Owing to the somewhat provocative nature of the artworks, we have titled the show “The Secret Collection of Yüan Meng Ch’ien”, alluding to the eccentric tycoon’s hidden collection of depravities.
The show is due to open on September 5th at the joint m50 opening. We got a whole array of secrets for you to pry from our bony, clammy fingers.
