Tom Lee Pettersen is a Chicago native who moved to Berlin in the 1980’s to pursue a career in music and learned sound engineering at the world famous Hansa Studio by the wall. Having recorded and produced many European musicians and composed music for TV films and advertising, he decided to head east to Shanghai to explore new musical territory and compose music for dance theater.
Together with Manels Favre, they founded Meta Music & Media, a local talent pool of musicians based in Shanghai.

Along with Wu Yandan, they form the main pillar of the collective Liu Dao.
