"Crosscourt Meditation" (斜线的冥想)
"Crosscourt Meditation" by island6 Art Collective (Liu Dao)
// BLURB //
Put one AI in a room for a hundred years. Lock it up in darkness and silence. Would it ever get bored? Would it ever try to get out? With no electrical connection to the outside world and no physical abilities to break the walls, it is destined to play Pong with itself. It lives within the confinement of its own head, a box or a cage, almost like moving into a monastery’s remotest room to explore the remotest places and unknown qualities within its own electrical circuits. It is not much different from walking into the Rothko Chapel in Houston. One has no choice but to dive into the subconscious and hope to change for the better. Where is the artwork? It’s halfway in between you and the object. It is the minimal, abstract and meditative act of perception. Halfway within itself. It’s like me yesterday, dreaming I was two robots playing with each other.
