"Dream Job" (梦想职业)
"Dream Job" by island6 Art Collective (Liu Dao)
// BLURB //
Have you ever had to go through a security check at the subway, but you didn’t care? You just cut through the kids who were supposed to stop you but couldn’t actually do anything? If yes, you’ll know your job is actually… not so bad. Because there are occupations out there more pointless than the one Sisyphus had, and his only task was to roll a huge boulder up a mountain just to watch it roll down and hit him for all eternity. After living in China for years, why do you feel like your street has been under construction without end? Would it be possible that once the power cables were fixed, the same workers blacktop the ditch only to reopen it the next day to fix the telephone cables…or was it just a dream? What do they feel— the people whose only job is to sit at the entrance of Shanghai Railway Station and repeat the word “fapiao”, hoping to sell you fake receipts? And what about the three baoan employed by three different departments watching me take a shower from three different angles?
