"Influential Standard Bodies" (位高权重的标准体)
"Influential Standard Bodies" by island6 Art Collective (Liu Dao)
// BLURB //
What’s the point of everything? To avoid this question, humans have, since early times, made great efforts to create something that was nothing like the reality they were given. We needed shelter when it rained and needed clothes when it was cold. We wanted to hide our bodies from each other when we had nothing unique to offer, making a surprise out of the banal. In other words, we just wanted to be in a cozy place we knew well, where every person could seem different, excluding a world that would blend us together. A crafted environment that reflects the human body in design as the standard unit of everything and complements it in every movement we make. What’s small and what’s large? What’s close and what’s far? What’s useful and what’s useless? What’s beautiful? It all depends on the human proportions that have slowly become dominant in the world. And now we are waiting. Maybe for Voltaire’s Micromégas, the giant alien to arrive on Earth and show us we are wrong. Or maybe to recognize what we really are, completed digitally.
