// BLURB //
Imagination, that most important faculty that is so often overlooked as the wasteful and troublesome signpost of youth. Walt Whitman lived his entire life there, in imagination, and understood the moving-power it has not on the physical but on the soul of the human being-- “as love does, as religion does, and the best poem”. Children, in a way, are the best poets. Having very little reference, they are forced to craft a way of understanding their world, and not always easily. They trust, as a true believer, in the goodness of those around them. They love unconditionally those who are good. And here they start. Kierkegaard called imagination “the possibility in any and all reflection” on the self. To him, imagination is the medium through which we can understand ourselves-- it contains the limits of our potential. This brings us to the classic discussion of whether new solutions provided by the youth are destructive or instructive, whether this or that new idea will finally dispel the myth of progress once more.
