Yao Fugui 耀富贵 is a car thief. He is a drug user, a starving artist, a prolific gambler, a conniving poker player, and part-time chauffeur. He has spent several months plotting and drinking with a group of well-established criminals under the guise of "artists" in the Southern City of Guangzhou 广州. His latest task has been to help organize a serious assault on a rival artist, i.e. gang member. Now, what the gang don’t know about Yao Fugui 耀富贵 is that he is also a police officer, and his bosses know everything he's been up to. He has been undercover for the past 8 months and 9 days, and he reports every single detail of his illicit actions to his senior officers. Yao Fugui - not his real name - has been in the force for little under a decade, and he's exceptionally proud of what he does, blending in with criminals, sometimes for months on end, to help catch "the big boys." Yao Fugui may be risking life and limb but he knows there is a certain financial security with his job, unlike those poor artists he's about to rat out.
